WHAT IS HAPPENING AT MUSICA CAPE GATE?!!!
I went there to purchase some speakers for my kids for Christmas. The staff on the floor was very helpful and assisted us while trying to find the right speaker for my two teenage daughters. At some stage one of the assistants approached us with a 'special' ' .. buy one-get one free ..' on a new brand of speaker that I have not heard of before. After listening to the sound we all agreed that we will take it! The assistant asked us to choose which colours we wanted. There were pink and black ones available. We choose one of each color, paid and left. In the car when we looked at the speakers we found that the black one was an older model than the pink one and decided we wanted two of the newer model (after all it was buy one - get one free!) When we went back to exchange the speakers the manager, Celeste (she did not want to give her surname), refused to allow us to exchange them. According to her the special was on 1 new model and 1 old model together. NOWHERE in the shop was this information displayed. When I insisted that we were sold buy one - get one free, she phoned her regional manager (Bernard or Gavin not quite sure). He also refused explaining that the special was actually on 2 old models only (again another change in the story!). While the manager was on the phone to the regional manager the staff came to me (not just the two who was assisting me) and told me that they were never told the exact details of the special. Furthermore they mentioned that this is not the first time that they had problems with managed as they would get some instructions from head office and then the manager(s) would tell them to ignore it or change the instructions of how they must implement it. In the end I was forced to reverse the transaction as I was not going to succumb to accepting another deal than what I was offered. The fact is we really liked the speakers and would very much have liked to purchase them, but something is definitely off in what is happening in this shop! So, no presents for my daughters under the Christmas tree this year as this was part of our last shopping before we left for our holidays the very next day. As I see it there was serious *****up by the manager, Celeste, as she did no communicate the proper parameters of the sale special to her staff and if she herself was not sure, then she should have found out from her regional manager before opening up the sale. Now I as the customer must suffer for her bad management. We have too much of this in South Africa and I for one am tired of this. If you want to be a good manager own up for your mistakes and take the flack, learn from it and become better! .. and give credit to your staff when things are going well!
