Issues with decoder

I've been having problems with dstv for over 2 months now. Can't pause, rewind, catch up did not update, had to take in my decoder to format my hard drive, lost all my recordings. Worked for a while and now having the same problem, "catch up" and "box office not available in this country yet" So multi choice says I have a faulty decoder and must buy a new one. ***? What am I paying for??
