POPI ACT VIOLATION— PATHETIC SERVICE

POPI ACT VIOLATION – Absolutely Disgusted!!

I honestly don’t even know where to begin with how messed up Mukuru is. I signed up to receive money only not send just receive. Everything was fine for a while until suddenly there’s a “mix-up” with my sister’s account. We both use CTR numbers, but ours are NOT the same. Still, somehow Mukuru managed to completely mess up and merge our accounts.

Now, whenever they search my CTR number, it brings up my sister’s info instead of mine. We tried to fix it, sent in the required selfies and ID (in this case, our status papers), and they came back saying the issue was sorted. LIE. It wasn’t. Instead of actually fixing the mistake, they just swapped phone numbers and left all the WRONG personal information on the account!

Let’s be clear here: this is personal, sensitive information we’re talking about. It’s not just a small admin error it’s a violation of the POPI Act. You don’t just mix up people’s private details and think an “oops” fixes it. What if this had been a complete stranger instead of my sister? Would my info just be floating around on someone else’s profile too?

This is grossly irresponsible, unprofessional, and honestly downright dangerous. As a financial institution, you have a duty to protect people’s data. Clearly, Mukuru does not take that seriously.

I feel violated, angry, and ready to take legal action if this isn’t properly resolved. Don’t come back with the usual generic “sorry for the inconvenience” nonsense either fix your systems and stop playing with people’s private info.

Absolutely pathetic service.
