Mukuru money transfer useless
If you need to receive money from another african country to South Africa, never ever and I mean never use Mukuru. First of all their limits are stupid. Secondly when u need to withdraw an amount as small as R40000, they ask for a whole lot of unnecessary documents and make it impossible to get the funds. The sender must send you proof of address, his passport, a photo of him holding his passport, proof of income and a hand written letter to confirm why he is sending the money. So useless and unnecessary and they only got a few withdrawal branches, which i had to go 3 days in a row to try n get the funds and still nothing. I encourage South Africans to never use Mukuru

16 May 2025, 10:04Good day, Thabo.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely regret the frustration and inconvenience you have experienced.
Please understand that Mukuru operates as a collection point for international money transfers and is required to adhere strictly to financial regulations and due diligence measures mandated by South African law and international compliance standards. These regulations require us to ensure the safety of all transactions.
While these requirements may seem extensive, they are not Mukuru’s internal policies, but necessary steps we must follow as part of legal compliance.
We appreciate that these procedures can be inconvenient, and we are continuously working to improve the customer experience within the scope of these regulatory requirements.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Kind regards.

16 May 2025, 11:46I called your head office and they said they cannot give me details. All they could say is the problem is on the sender's side and he must call world remit. The sender has called world remit and their response is that there are no issues on their side and the funds are sitting with Mukuru. So now what should one do in this case

Thank you for the update.
Yes, that is correct. Since both Mukuru and WorldRemit are indicating the issue lies with the other party, the next step is for our Quality Assurance Specialist to get involved. We appreciate your patience as we work on your issue.
Kind regards.
