The Junction Ballito Mugg and Bean has to be the worst!
Irritates me that a simple decaf cappuccino could be so messed up and that I am writing a review about it now. What is there to get wrong, we ask? On Boxing Day, The Junction wasn't busy and my sons had vouchers to spend. I went to the Mugg and Bean for what, I thought, would be a peaceful cappuccino. After asking for the table to be cleaned, this was done by someone other than the waitress with a dry cloth which left what could've been baby snot, old food, whateverrrr on the table from where I was going to drink a hot drink. I think not. I asked again, the waitress again did a half-assed job by wiping around the condiment tray and the suspicious blob remained. That should've been my cue to leave. I didn't, simply because that was where I had arranged to meet my sons. An order was taken for a decaf cappuccino with almond milk and honey. I don't drink this because I'm being precious, I have had Lyme Disease, following a tick bite in the UK and cannot consume certain foods including caffeine, dairy, sugar and others. 40 minutes later, after the drink had not yet been served, I asked to speak to the manager. Incredibly, the drink still hadn't been delivered and the manager didn't materialize. 20 minutes later, I again asked for the manager. Still no drink. The person who came to the table had no name badge, identifying her name or title. She claimed to be the manager and when I explained the fact that I'd waited so long for her, she thought that "doing her cash-up" was satisfactory reason. An hour had passed by then, my mistake, I still ordered the drink... again. After drinking the cappuccino, I broke out in a sweat and called the manager back to check that, a. It had been decaffeinated and b. It was made with almond milk. She claimed it was but the evidence points to something else. The sweating, queasiness and discomfort for the rest of the day says the order was not taken and made responsibly. Oh and I'm still waiting for the honey... This is appalling, that a review is even necessary, that somebody in the service industry could be so cavalier about someone's health requirements and that she still charged me for the cappuccino after all this shows she does not get it and should not be in the service industry and definitely not in the hospitality industry. Poor reflection on Mugg and Bean and The Junction, the innocent party in this fiasco!
