No sell-by dates

Sandwiches are not marked with a sell-by date. Surely this is against the law? It is certainly very bad practice in today's hyper-sensitive snack climate. I purchased a sandwich at Cape Town Airport, no date, no ingredients on the packet or shelf. At least the filling of my sandwhich tastedOK.
