Mugg & Bean – Still Sitting Here at 19:02 – No Service, Filthy Tables, No Accountability
Business Name: Mugg & Bean – Cape Town International Airport Review Title: Still Sitting Here at 19:02 – No Service, Filthy Tables, No Accountability
I am currently seated inside the Mugg & Bean at Cape Town International Airport on Sunday evening, 7 April 2025, and feel compelled to write this review while still sitting here at 19:02 having entered at about 18:00, still having received absolutely no service since entering over 40 minutes ago.
From the moment I walked in, I was met with dirty tables everywhere. I eventually chose a table next to a plug point, although it was still littered with:
*a dirty side plate
*two used glasses
*an empty Red G****tiser can
*torn sugar packets
*a fallen Tabasco bottle
Despite counting seven staff members, not one has approached me to greet, clean, or take an order. My table remains uncleared, and I remain ignored. The shop is not even overly busy (about 30% ocupancy) — just completely unmanaged.
This kind of neglect is unacceptable from any restaurant, but it’s even worse at an international airport, where South Africa’s image is on display. The contrast between the general excellence of Cape Town and the absolute failure inside this Mugg & Bean is embarrassing.
This is not a once-off slip — this is a clear breakdown of leadership, hygiene, and staff accountability.
