MUGG AND BEAN - NO TOMATO SAUCE / TABASCO MIXED WITH WATER

This is the first time I've written a review for a business, as it's not my habit to complain—after all, anyone can make a mistake. However, in this case, Mugg & Bean chose to deliver poor service and deliberately attempted to short-change customers.

My wife and I arrived at 12:00 on 31 August. It took about 5 minutes for a waiter to arrive—not a big deal. We ordered a toasty takeaway as a gift for a jeweler in the mall who had helped me with a watch, as well as a toasted bacon and egg with coffee for ourselves. After 20 minutes, the takeaway arrived. We then waited another 15 minutes for the main meal to arrive, by which time the coffee was cold. I said nothing.

When we ordered the bacon and egg, we specifically asked for the egg to be flipped. It arrived unflipped, with the white still raw. I politely asked for it to be taken back, and after another 15 minutes, the waiter brought it back. We asked for tomato sauce and Tabasco. The response? "Sorry, we don't have tomato sauce." Pick n Pay is next door, but apparently, they are "not allowed" to buy from them. So, we asked for HP sauce and Tabasco instead. The Tabasco arrived in a big bottle, but it was clearly watered down—another corner cut. They must think people won't notice.

My wife suggested we skip the tip, but I didn't feel it was the waiter's fault. Feeling sorry for her, I tipped 20%. We paid, and I jokingly asked, "No tomato sauce, no peppermints?" The waiter just said, "Sorry."

Mugg & Bean might not miss my drop in the ocean, but be careful—you might lose many other customers, and those drops could become a factor. The Table Bay Mall franchise is affecting the whole group, openly and unashamedly providing poor service. Your waiter told us it's difficult to work there because of the complaints due to your poor management practices.
