Disappointing experience

Disappointing Experience at Mugg & Bean – Ruined Birthday Kickoff

I took my wife to Mugg & Bean Table Bay Mall Cape Town for breakfast this morning to start her birthday celebrations at her favorite restaurant. We usually visit the Century City branch, where we always receive excellent service, but this time, we decided to try a branch closer to home—what a mistake!

From the moment we arrived, the experience was nothing short of frustrating. We placed an order totaling over R500, making it clear that I wanted to impress my wife with a special breakfast. However, we waited over 1 hour and 30 minutes for our food, only to be informed that the kitchen never received the order due to a "printer issue." Despite this excuse, when the food finally arrived, it was ice cold—which makes no sense if the kitchen had supposedly never received the order in the first place.

To make matters worse, not a single manager or supervisor came to address the situation. We decided to pay for just our drinks and leave, as we couldn’t afford to waste any more time waiting for another meal—our day was fully scheduled for birthday celebrations. Even then, our waitress was nowhere to be found when we needed the bill, and we had to ask another waiter, Tadiwa, to assist us.

This was by far the worst service I have ever experienced at Mugg & Bean. It’s disappointing that such a well-loved brand can allow such poor service and lack of accountability. Unfortunately, this branch has lost us as customers, and I will not be recommending it to anyone. If you’re looking for the quality service Mugg & Bean is known for, I strongly suggest going to the Century City branch instead.
