Bad service from rude waiter
Visited the Mugg n Bean in Tygervalley Centre and received absolutely horrible service. We were served by Vuyokazi, I think (she didn't introduce herself, nor did I see a name tag).
Firstly let me say i'm sure that prisoners receive a warmer welcome when they walk into their cafeteria area for supper. Our waiter greeted me as if I single handedly stole her ancestoral lands, and then proceeded to take down my order like a school kid in detention who was just told to write a 1000 word essay on why she hates her life. As is customary in the food industry, whenever you order anything bottomless the waitron staff disappear into the back area to deliver a baby via c-section or something - no big deal. After patiently nursing my 1empty mug of "bottomless" house blend for some time, I got up and had to go look for a waiter to bring me the bill. If I had walked out without paying I'm sure nobody would have noticed since there were absolutely no waiters in sight for the majority of our stay. I guess they were watching the rugby since the coffee shop wasn't busy at all. Anyhow.. I was resolved to quietly accepting the poor service in true South African style until my rude waiter resolved to taking my customer receipt and throwing into a dirty wet plate on the table, instead of handing it to me! When I asked her why she had done that she mumbled something incoherently and then took the ice-cream soaked receipt (my sister had ordered flapjacks) and chucked it in front me.
Rude and disrespectful would not begin to describe this lady. Working in the service industry myself, I'm quite sympathetic to service staff but nothing that I did warranted such atrocious behaviour. I would advise anyone to not make the same mistake I did. Rather use another coffee shop in the mall and have a pleasant meal. Even visiting a soup kitchen would be better than spending your money here.
