Review of MTN South Africa
Prepaid Sim Swap
The prepaid customers are treated terribly. There is no need to make customers go through many hurdles for a sim swap. If your store consultants are not willing to assist make a self service system. My conclusion comes after my visit at The MTN store at Shelly Centre, South Coast, KZN. Before them I went to 2 other stores and I had the "our sim swap system is off line" answer I then asked to escalate this I get told there is no escalation process, I then ask for the manager and was told they had stepped out. I decide to sit and wait for the manager in no time the consultant then says she will take my documents and the sim swap will be done the next day by 11am. I ask her to give me the stores contact number they then tell me the Cisco phone is not working. I ask them again if their system is not working, they don't have a fast escalation process, there is no manager or senior person to speak to and there is no way of contacting the store and they said yes. The consultant opted to give me her personal number and name. I left the store knowing that they were lying but rather didn't want to assist me purposely. 2 days later the sim she gave me to use the next day at 11am says the sim has been rica barred. They didn't rica the sim nor do the sim swap. The Indian gentleman who was helping me was shouting at me across the store saying "you speaking like this but you want help". I am currently still without my number but with a sim that is not rica'ed or sim swapped and my R5 at MTN Shelly Centre.

Somebody *****ulently did a sim swap & number porting on my mtn number (+27 (83) 995-3145) that I’ve been using the for 18 years, without any verification. How is that possible?
I went to branches in Fourways & Bryanston and called help desk countless times and sent emails but nobody can reverse a porting. My fear is that they gonna come back and say it’s too late to reverse it when i acted on time
I have been an mtn customer for so long i would expect some level of service, but clearly that’s not the case or many it depends on the color of your skin
The asshole who took my number still has it active and i can call it with no answer, he also transferred airtime to this number (+27 (73) 534-5700) which is also active.
How hard is it to trace these numbers and/or reverse a *****ulent action?

MTN is bunch of *******. Upgraded my contract but they billing me for both phones and when I tried to escalate it I get told the billing is right. How in the hell can you be paying g for 2 fones on 1 contract. They can just take what they like from your account and you can't do anything coz they then put you on it. Never ever ever again will I go with this pathetic excuse for a cellphone provider!!!!

I recently bought a home wifi @ Mtn westgate mall, the consultant never cared to explain how it works worse she gave it to me & said it's a plug & go wheras she didn't fix the settings, went back Many times with no help, until the one guy did the settings right. Yesterday I went back again as I had no connection again the consultant said its because I've used my fair usage given to me. How coz I'm on uncapped ? She failed 2 explain/ assist. Please Mtn train your people, it's frustrating 2 drive 2 a place & find such consultants.

If there was a negative rating, I'd give these fuvckers a negative infinity rating. I opened a *****ulent case and timeously submitted supporting documentation. I was told that it would take 21 days to have it investigated and the outcome granted within the stipulated timeframes thereof. Fast forward, 2 months later still waiting for this matter to be closed out. Meanwhile, they don't give zero sh*# as to whether my credit score is being affected or not. I dunno what leads they are following to investigate, I mean even a 5th grader would have concluded this by means of useful checklist.

Commercial violence by MTN
MTN handed my account over without cause. I’ve called, emailed, went to the offices and all confirm that my account is clear yet now I’ve been blacklisted on the credit bureau. This is commercial violence! I’ve worked hard to build my credit score and only for it to be unjustly destroyed by MTN.

Horrible service from MTN
I have had the most poor service from MTN. I bought a Pay as You Go router. I made the upfront payment as well as prorate which happened at the beginning of August. They then made a mistake on the debit order and tried to debit on the 15th. I realised this was happening. Contacted them and changed the debit order, paid the amount owing and went into MTN to pay the reconnection fee all on the same day. I have been on the phone for literally two days and cannot get reconnected even after numerous reference numbers and requests to speak to supervisors and managers. Burkina absolutely refused to let us speak to a supervisor or give his surname. Valerie promised all would be sorted but it was not. I am so very tired of awful service. I just want the WiFi so that we can watch the rugby.

Why do I have to beg to cancel my contract?
We've been trying to cancel this contract for years.
We first got the contract in 2009, if I am not mistaken. When we were ready to cancel the contract years later, after not using the sim for a couple of years, we were given the run around.
When we went in store, we were told to call or email instead. When we called the number to cancel, our calls went unanswered or we were given stories when we managed to get through. Funnily enough, when you call the number to get a contract with them, it's always answered.
When we emailed, we'd get automated responses and a person would reply later, only to not follow up when we've given the information that they asked for.
We finally stopped the debit orders from going through, we were handed over to lawyers who are now bullying us to pay when we've been asking for this contract to be cancelled for years!
This whole ordeal has been tiring and unnecessary. If I could give you a negative rating, I would. Leaving a one star review doesn't even begin to appease my anger. Workers of mtn will not see heaven.
Mtn is a ****. It should be ******* to treat people this way.
It's honestly disgusting how underhanded and greedy Mtn is.

MTN does not care about their customers
Dear MTN, it has been months that I have tried to transfer my husband's contract onto my name. Every time I get to a store, your system does not want to to the transfer because of an error which has not been fixed. I have been a loyal customer for many years and pay my account every month. I am truly disappointed with your service and the fact that you still have not fixed your system or responded to my husband's complaint on hellopeter. I see that you are not willing to keep your customers.

Disgusting food & service!
I’m absolutely disgusted by the food and service my partner and I received from McDonalds Belhar and the manager on duty Joe. On the 24/09/2023, We went through the drive-thru to order food, upon receiving food, I requested fresh fries as the fries received was cold and stale. We were then requested to wait in the parking area, which happen to be over 30 minutes. After actively waiting for our food, we decided to go inside (its was raining), my partner spoke to Joe and requested our food. The manager brought our food advising it was correct, when we checked there was no changes made to our fries. The manager just blatantly ignored our request for fresher food until we had to put up a scheme to get our food sorted. Thankfully one of the ladies working at the branch assisted with getting our food right. There was absolutely no remorse from this manager for the service we received. I will no longer waste my time, and money at this branch. The service was distasteful. I’ve been going to this McDonald’s for quite a few years and have never received much bad service ever. I need this manager Joe to be reprimanded. He has no leadership nor people skills whatsoever. It’s pathetic!

I have an R5 milk voucher that I wanted to use today but in the end, I could not and am very unhappy about it. say R5 for any long-life milk. The manager informed me then I could not use it on the product that I bought. If the the voucher says ANY it means any otherwise it is a false adverti*****t. You must specify what the word ANY means at Woolworths.

Poor service
I travel by great north bus from Seshego to Lerajane daily the bus is never on time I'm always late for work sometimes I wait for two hours at the bus stop waiting for the bus only to find out that there is no bus ior drivet recently we got a puncture almost 100 km to town,we phoned the company to inform them about the puncture they said they will send a mechanic but no one came until we reach town with that puncture we always hitch hike to work because there is always something wrong with the bus mind you we recharge our tags weekly but service is extremely poor

I went and bought a engine from engine for africa just to find out after i fitted it that the timing chain is snaped. Bought another engine from them that was totaly wrong so they supp**** me another engine just to find out it does not start they send there so called mecanik out Manny just to lie to Mark and say its key coding. As i work for Nissan myself coded the keys over to proof them wrong and thats were it all started with this Googel Mark who ever he is. He keep on sending me google watsup to sort the engine problem out. So i went and proof them wrong again to show them no diesel coming from engin. Now he send me more google watsups to sort this problem out. Why must i sort out this engine i payed R20000 for to be right. No that i proofed them wrong again now this Google Mark send me a watsup that i must loose his number and his staff numbers surely this is not profecianol from a comany i trusted. Of i can i wiil advice them to no one as they dont have customers experiance.

Horrible quality
I bought the proline laptop bundle from Lewis.
This is the worst quality ever.
I had problems since day one but couldn't return it immediately because I had assignments to complete and this was my main reason for getting the laptop..
Now exactly what I feared was going to happen is happening.. I now sent it in for them to check to it out and I'm waiting for over a month to get it back or exchanged.
Now I have my second semester assignments due and no laptop... But I'm paying my account on time..
*the laptop didn't close properly
*the letter M not working right
*the screen freezes and goes blank sometimes
*the charger also gave in just before I sent it in

I have an R5 milk voucher that I wanted to use today but in the end, I could not and am very unhappy about it. say R5 for any long-life milk. The manager informed me then I could not use it on the product that I bought. If the the voucher says ANY it means any otherwise it is a false adverti*****t. You must specify what the word ANY means at Woolworths.

Poor service
I travel by great north bus from Seshego to Lerajane daily the bus is never on time I'm always late for work sometimes I wait for two hours at the bus stop waiting for the bus only to find out that there is no bus ior drivet recently we got a puncture almost 100 km to town,we phoned the company to inform them about the puncture they said they will send a mechanic but no one came until we reach town with that puncture we always hitch hike to work because there is always something wrong with the bus mind you we recharge our tags weekly but service is extremely poor

Engine for africa
I went and bought a engine from engine for africa just to find out after i fitted it that the timing chain is snaped. Bought another engine from them that was totaly wrong so they supp**** me another engine just to find out it does not start they send there so called mecanik out Manny just to lie to Mark and say its key coding. As i work for Nissan myself coded the keys over to proof them wrong and thats were it all started with this Googel Mark who ever he is. He keep on sending me google watsup to sort the engine problem out. So i went and proof them wrong again to show them no diesel coming from engin. Now he send me more google watsups to sort this problem out. Why must i sort out this engine i payed R20000 for to be right. No that i proofed them wrong again now this Google Mark send me a watsup that i must loose his number and his staff numbers surely this is not profecianol from a comany i trusted. Of i can i wiil advice them to no one as they dont have customers experiance.

Horrible quality
I bought the proline laptop bundle from Lewis.
This is the worst quality ever.
I had problems since day one but couldn't return it immediately because I had assignments to complete and this was my main reason for getting the laptop..
Now exactly what I feared was going to happen is happening.. I now sent it in for them to check to it out and I'm waiting for over a month to get it back or exchanged.
Now I have my second semester assignments due and no laptop... But I'm paying my account on time..
*the laptop didn't close properly
*the letter M not working right
*the screen freezes and goes blank sometimes
*the charger also gave in just before I sent it in
