**** up / idiots MTN South Africa

On the 22nd of October 2016 I had visited MTN Gatemax uMhlanga to do 2 upgrades on my cellphone contracts that we have with MTN.
The upgrades were successfully done at the store however they did not have stock of the above mentioned phones.

We had found out that the Durban North branch had the last 2 IPhone 7plus we immediately left to the Durban north branch were we picked up both phones which they set up for us and assisted with the sim swap and everything required the setup was successful.

On the 20th of December 2016 around 3pm my phone had no service which I assumed was due to bad network I had that problem the entire night, which lead me to go back to the store where I spoke to the manager and they advised me to contact the MTN repair centre.

At the repair centre I was advised that my phone was black listed, that the consultant cannot see the why I am black listed and without service he then notified me to go back to MTN Gatemax Umhlanga to which they found that MTN south Africa has no record of my phone been issued to me.

There after I was asked to go back to the store where I had gotten the phone from which I did and they asked to come back the following day unfortunately due to work I was unable to so I left a contact number for them to contact me on. I had waited patiently for their response which I didn’t get until I had contacted them, I was then told that my account is under investigation and that MTN Durban north has no record of my phone.

On January 3, 2017 I have taken this information to MTN Gatemax and they have asked me to bring forward a written statement done at the police station with a certified copy of the account holder’s details which I have not done yet.

Thus far no persons from either company have yet contacted me or the account holder. The only contact I have had with them is when I called or visited they branch.

I am extremely disgruntled and disappointed with the service of MTN South Africa, apart from putting my family and I in a crisis situation, I haven’t been given a proper explanation has to why my cellphone cannot be found under their system, or why it has been blacklisted without contacting me (I do know that MTN is able access information of the phone location or the number in use on that IMEI ) when I have ample proof of my business with MTN South Africa which was provided by iStore.

As a member of the media at a renowned media company and daily public figure, I have decided to publically vent my frustrations on MTN South Africa’s and iStore lack of professionalism ,do not mistake this as an empty threat if this issue is not resolved as soon as possible I will take to MegaZone medias social media and on air facilities to let the word out as to how pitiable and disappointing the service at MTN South Africa is however if the issue is not resolved as soon as possible I will take up the offer to do whatever the means are to get my opinion heard and receive answers from MTN South Africa.

I trust that the issue will be resolved before any drastic measures are taken and that MTN South Africa, iStore and myself can sort this out in a civilised manner.
