Incomplete Construction work and Bad Workmanship - refused to hand over any completion certificates for us to obtain occupation certificate

It is with regret that we find ourselves in the situation where we have to complain about the way Mtemeli Trading CC constructed and failed to complete the building works at our house in the Eye of Africa.

They assured us that the work would be complete and that we would be in a position to take beneficial occupation by 14th December 2016 after numerous other milestone never materialized.

We contracted the building works to them with the understanding that they were a reputable service provider with the necessary credentials and infrastructure to develop and build our dream home. Their quotation was also detailed in such a manner that we assumed that they had a good understanding of related costs and that we would be in safe hands appointing them with our building project.

They grossly miscalculated the provisional items and then left me to do all the sourcing of these items to try and meet the budget guidelines quoted by them. They were well aware that construction was not our profession and we believe that in some instances they used our ignorance and situation to get us to agree with additional costs and skimp on the quality of all finishes which we was expecting. The costs at the end were exorbitant, and we had personally finance this construction, leaving us bankrupt, and with an incomplete house. We now find ourselves in a situation that the house is not complete with many finishes and overall workmanship being of a poor standard and the overall safety of the house is questionable. We have had the NHBRC involved for a while and although the NHBRC did request the Builders to complete the work, which they only did part of it, under duress and with inferior material. There is list of defects / snags that have still not been completed, including poor waterproofing, that was repaired numerous times, again using inferior material, meaning it still rains in the house.

We subsequently had to rent out our dream home in order to be able to make ends meet. They have also refused to hand over any completion certificates for us to obtain occupation certificate

We strongly advise you to stay away from this construction company. Nobody should go through this experience. Therefore they should not be used by anyone for any Construction work
