Warning for new travelers on MSC Cruises

My wife and myself embarked on a cruise on MSC Sinfonia on 03/11/17 for a short cruise. We had prepaid for an alcoholic drinks package at a supposedly discounted price of R780.00. After finally boarding and receiving our cabin cards we went register same at reception . We both drink beer, Hansa and Amstel and we were pleased that both were available. After a few drinks on Friday evening at $2.10 and $2.20 respectively, we realized that we would not get our moneys worth with only 18 tickets. On Saturday afternoon I decided to buy a 'beer bucket' at $6.30 and was surprised to learn that I then had to cough up 4 tickets. On checking at reception we were told that we only get 18 tickets. I then asked how we could access the balance of the R780 we were told that we couldn't. This is at most false advertising, at worst *****. On clearing out on Monday morning I again requested clarity on this and was told the same thing. We had not used the $101.00 exchanged for purchases, so I was surprised to receive $99.00 refund, on asking why I was told that $2.00 was deduced for UNICEF, at approximately 2500 pax this amounts to about R70000.00. One wonders does it get there?? For anybody going cruising, my advice is to NOT buy any prepaid packages and instead deposit the dollar amount in the cabin card thus getting change or paying any surplus on disembarkation On checking exchange rates later it seems that we paid +- R45.00 per beer!!!!
