Ridiculous rules

Booked through an agent for a family cruise. Had one 17 year old with us who has his passport and ID with him,yet, they require a birth certificate! They refused to accept the ID or passport at check in! He even had parens with him.

This is the most ridiculous ruling I've ever seen. Who uses their birth certificate after getting their identity document??? Really MSC???
