MSC Splendida a horrible experience

I travelled with my dad on Sinfonia Nov 2011 after the passing of my brother. The ship was stranded in Capetown Harbor for most of the trip due to extremely bad weather, however, the experience on the ship was very enjoyable and the staff were amazing.

This trip on 8 Dec on MSC Splendida, to Mozambique was a total disaster, from embarkation to end. It was horribly managed. People were shoving and scrambling just to get on the board. During embarkation, you could see staff laughing and giggling at people who were stressed and struggling to get on the ship. I had met a crew member who told me, as we got on, that Splendida was not equipped to cater for so many people????

The buffet's were a joke, very badly managed and people were running and grabbing food as if they will never be eating again? Utensils were dirty and not very hygienic.

Main restaurants food portions were so tiny that they left people hungry.

All Bars were understocked and people had to wait almost 30 minutes before getting something to drink?

Staff were unfriendly, possibly because they are overworked. Smiles were far and few.

I had a quick question regarding the excursion. All I wanted to know was on which deck we were to be for the excursion takeoff. After 3 same explanations of "you get off the boat, onto another boat....the guy started drawing me pictures of how to get off the boat??????

We had also purchased clothing for some of the itinerary, but most were cancelled, eg white party and captains ball??? What the hell guys? It's not as if we got this trip for free?? Even most of the so called specials on board were way overpriced!!!!

Anyway. My hat off to the few staff who went out of their way to assist in whatever we needed.

Never again will I ever board another MSC cruise ship. Sail Date: 8-11December 2023
