MSC Sinfonia – Absolute Disgrace
We were onboard the MSC Sinfonia 30 Oct – 3 November and would hereby like to enlighten you on our experience.
We found it very unprofessional that we were made to stand in a line for up to 4 hours. Check in was meant to close at 13h00 for a 14h00pm departure, instead we only boarded at 15h30 and departed at 19h00.
Due to this delay, which was no fault of ours we only had one day in which to enjoy The Portuguese Island and what it had to offer. We paid in full beforehand for a 5 day, 4 night trip with 2 days of leisure on the island.
Furthermore majority, if not all the restaurant staff were foreign and understood little to no English. This made dinner service (which is meant to be better than the buffet) very unpleasant. Questions were left un-answered, menu options had to be pointed out as we were not understood.
On the first night, our particular choice of wine was not available as it hadn’t been unpacked yet according to our waiter (we were at table 465 in the Il Galeone Restaurant). We then asked if we could choose one from the normal menu (we were on the wine & water package) as a replacement for what we couldn’t have – a dull no was the response. On the 3rd night the same waiter advises us that the stock wasn’t received and will only be available once back in Durban. We ended up calling a manager, as our waiter was very abrupt and not helpful at all – within minutes we received our requested wine. No apology, no compensation, terrible dining experience all around.
In conclusion we felt completely ****** of a fully paid experience with no explanation nor compensation. If we wanted a 1 day island experience we would of chosen it and demand to be compensated for our losses.
