MSC Could care less about weather delays
It is quite disappointing how the whole situation was handled regarding the cruise delay on the 24th of January. We planned for this family vacation for months and we were looking forward to it. Not to mention how we saved and the reason for the trip. The cruise was delayed due to weather conditions which is out of MSC's control but what is within MSC's control is how the situation was handled. As the Cruise was delayed for 2 days i called MSC to make sure we would not miss our flights we booked back from Durban. We found our the Friday the 25th that the Cruise would leave promptly the Saturday morning and therefore this will result in no delay ion Durban. I spoke to Paul at MSC and ask to make 100% sure we wouldn't arrive late in Durban as this will result in us missing our flights. When we were in the queue the Saturday morning again i walked to the information counter and asked the lady are you sure we are not going to be delayed in Durban due to us leaving on Saturday again reassured we would arrive on time. We got on the boat and the itinerary confirmed we would arrive on time in Durban. The evening of the 26th of January we received a new itinerary and this read that we would arrive in Durban at 13:00. This is a problem because our flights was at 13:10. We spent the rest of the trip trying to obtain signal to book flights back to CPT. There were no flights back and we could only book flights back the next day. All this time we still had no accommodation. So where is MSC in all of this....couldn't care less, advising us we need to take the matter up with the insurance. They had no empathy, whether you had money or not. Today i get a response from Hollard insurance that must be taken my MSC that they will not be paying my claim due to the delay and the fact that we needed to book new flights and accommodation. You are forced to take this insurance you have no option. I work for a financial institution and could have obtain proper travel insurance. Be that as it may it takes Hollard 3 weeks to respond to tell you they will not be paying because of weather conditions and now i have to log a dispute which will take 90 days before i can take the matter to the Ombudsman. I am warning all South Africans about MSC when there is a weather delay. Rather book a holiday on solid ground but do now go on a holiday with MSC. I am now out of pocket R10 000 for 3 weeks and now being told i need to wait 3 months.....MSC could care less, they refund you the days you were not on the cruise but the way they respond to to siutuation is could care less not our problem. Why are they affiliated with Hollard??? Why Hollard why not Santam a proper Insurer or Mutual and Federal...why Hollard of all places
