I went into one of the Mr Price stores which is in Randburg Square (for the first time) on Friday when i knocked off to buy a dress that I was told about by a friend that I needed for Saturday. When i got there it was under a label which specified R189... do note that this was all dresses of the same design and they had no prices on the tags and it was more than 5 dresses , which clearly means they weren't placed there by mistake by a shopper. When I got to the counter I was told the dress is R249 which is a R60 price difference. As someone that has worked in retail before I found this puzzling... If there is an error in the price, the supplier cannot insist that the consumer pay a higher price for the goods or services than the one they display. If more than one price is displayed, the consumer is not required to pay the higher of the two prices displayed, but in this case all dresses had no prices on the tags but hung under a huge labeling that specified R189. I was disappointed and left the dress simply because pricing is the responsibility of the store not customers plus the general principle is that a supplier cannot display goods for sale without displaying a price in relation to those goods but at the end of it all as a consumer I left the store with no dress and inconvenienced by a store that I have always supported and liked. I hope such errors are fixed because Mr Price is a good store and has lovely clothes.
