Terrible or suspicious customer service...

If I could give zero stars I would.

I normally don't like to name and shame but many people said I need to write this after Mr Price offered me such appalling, and quite frankly, suspicious, customer service.

Late Wed afternoon (25 Jan) I went to Mr Price at the Pav to by a voucher for a friend's birthday. I didn't think anything more of it as there were things to be done...supper, homework, my work etc. Only to discover, the next morning (Thursday 26 Jan), when packing the present, the was no card in the voucher envelope. I thought, an honest mistake because I saw him scan the card, perhaps he just forgot to put it in the envelope. (You can clearly see that no card was put in the envelope). I just pop back to the shop, they can look on the camera's, chat to a manager and I'll be sorted...

Well! Was I sadly mistaken! What horrific service! I explained what happened to one of the cashiers and asked to speak to someone who could help. No one seemed to really know what to do. The lady I told went and told two other ladies...they had a chit chat until one came back and said they would phone head office to get the full voucher number (as the till slip only shows part of the number) then they will use that voucher numcher to buy another voucher.

They still couldn't really believe that I didn't have the voucher so I asked to see the video footage from the day before (less than 24 hours) surely they have cameras at the tills? They said they will go and see...

HALF AN HOUR later, the lady making the phone call still hadn't come back, I got up to find out what was happening, to see the other lady strolling back to me. She told me that the camera showed me getting the card and that I must have dropped it. When I asked to see the video footage, she then said it showed him putting the card (loosely) in the fold over envelope (but not hooked in) and as I'm putting it in my packet (that I had with me) it slipped out and fell on the floor. So I asked what happened next? She said she didn't know she didnt watch further. Someone may have picked it up, handed it in, swept it out with the *******. 🤷🏼♀️ She now also tells me she spoke to her manager who said they can't replace a voucher if the costomer loses it.

Let's be honest, I barely had time to lose it. Firstly, it wasn't hooked into the envelope when it was given to me. Secondly, I hadn't even left the cashier/till counter when it supposedly got 'lost'. And thirdly, the cameras clearly show how it happened.

I told her I want to speak to the manager so I can tell her my story because Mr Price is clearly partly to blame. I also asked AGAIN to see the camera footage (they don't want me to), they said I can come back tomorrow (Friday) to watch it....hmmmmm, suspicious....Aaaaand surprise, surprise, the manager has gone home!

Tell me, what manager, who actaully cares for their job, would go home in the middle of dealing with a costomer issue??? OR, the lady dealing with me, Thab'sile, didn't actually speak to the manager, but just said she did?

The lady phoning head office comes back. Sorry no luck. I must come back tomorrow morning and they will try again the. Why does no one seem to care!

So I ask to speak to the manager on the phone. There was a bit of a pause, then Thab'sile said there was another manager I could talk to. I said I just want to speak to someone in chargee who can help me replace my voucher. So off we went and found another lady (I should have written all their names down, grrrr). Thab'sile explained to her what happened and what I needed and this was her answer, 'I can't help you, I don't deal with cards.' No sorry, nothing. I now demand to speak to the manager on the phone....voice mail.

Thab'sile took my details and said she would phone me the next day and let me know what was happening.

An hour later I walked out knowing I'd probably have to buy another voucher. But it certainly won't be from Mr Price!!!😡

Friday...I received the VERY unexpected call from Mr Price. The asked for the time on my till slip saying they were trying to sort a voucher and they will get back to me. Ten minutes later they phoned again asking for the till number, again saying they were sorting a voucher for me, I got to the fifth number when the lady said thank and put the phone down on me. And that was the last I heard from them.

Is it too much to ask for good customer service???
