Terrible customer service

During the festive season, I placed an order with the Mr Price online store and chose the 'Store economy' delivery option which promises 6-7 working days. I noticed that for about six days my order status was only 'Processing' so I emailed customer service to find out why it was taking so long for my order to be shipped. Instead of any apologies for the inconvenience or any other pleasantries I received an email back containing only my shipping status which had suddenly changed to 'shipped' after then not replying to my email for over a day which is unusual considering their response is usually never more than 20 minutes away. That leads me to believe that they purposefully didn't respond to my email so that they could fix it in the mean time before getting back to me in order to make it seem like I was mistaken.

Furthermore, their promise of 6-7 working days was not met. I contacted them again after approximately 9 working days to find out where my parcel was. I was then informed that they were experiencing delays with deliveries due to an influx of orders during the festive season. As a customer, when I am promised something I expect that promise to be realised. They should have accounted for the possibility of an influx of orders. It is absolutely unacceptable that they do not live up to what they say they will deliver.

Once I finally received my order, the quality of the all the garments was attrocious. With a heavy heart, I headed to the store to return it and I was met by a horribly rude cashier. As a result, I sent the following order to Mr Price:

"Good day.

While returning my online order ( ********** 57700) to your Tyger Valley branch I experienced absolutely unacceptable customer service.

Upon approaching the counter I told the cashier that I was there to do an online return. She retorted that it was not an online return because I was returning it in store. As she was able to correct me and be snappy she obviously understood what I meant and I felt that her comment was unnecessary and rude. Either way, I was returning items I ordered online.

Her craving to be "superior" to me did not end there. She asked me why I had returned the order. I explained to her that the one dress was so badly stitched that it made a bulge on the side of my leg. She proceeded to argue with me that the dress was intentionally shaped like that as if she had been the one to have it on and realise the terrible quality. As a customer, it is my prerogative to return any item I please for whatever reason pleases me. She does not get to argue with me about my judgement on something I paid for.

After further explanation she let the debate about the dress go and turned her attention to the two shirts I was returning. She couldn't comprehend why I was returning them even though I had pointed out the fact that while the swing tag said that the shirts were white (So did the website) they were a peach-colour. She then continued with the transaction, however, when she asked me what type of card I used to pay with and I explained to her that I did not use a card and I had made an EFT payment she was still convinced I must have used a card of sorts and asked again what card I used for the EFT. I had to explain twice more how an EFT works before she decided to hear what I was saying about not using a card.

Furthermore, she asked if I am taking anything else in place of the garments I returned which is all good and well but I was rather irritated when she asked if I even looked if I wanted anything else. As if her above-mentioned indiscretions are not enough she wasted my time by putting each garment on a hanger in front of me rather than continuing with the transaction so that she could finish up.

I unfortunately did not think to ask for her name but I hope this will be dealt with as it should be. Mr Price is a large company with vast resources. I expect you will make work of this to find out who this cashier is and teach her that her methods of dealing with clients is unacceptable.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely

Nadine Blewett"

For six days after sending this email I had received no response from Mr Price so I emailed them again stating that I had not received a response on the matter.

After that email I was contacted by customer service asking for my details so that the regional manager could contact me which I happily sent through since I was so unhappy with the service I received yet I was never contacted by the regional manager.

I am a very regular customer of the Mr Price website. I spent a lot of money there and I am usually impressed with them. I have recommended it to many people in the past but after this happened I am rather embarrassed that I ever recommended them and I am tempted never to shop there again.

I am also upset by the lack of response from their side. If, after this, I still don't receive a response my next step is to write a blog post about this awful service I experienced and I will tag them on social media. Perhaps then they will take action.
