Not fair

I bought two pairs of jeans and tried one and it fit, removed the tags when I got home, and lost the receipt too, I have a bank statement indicating that I bought at mrp though. When I tried on the other jeans a few days later it didn't fit. Now I want to exchange for a bigger size and was told it's impossible.
