Never get a Mr Price Account

I lost my job last year in March, and i battled to pay off my Mr Price account, I did explain this to them on 100 occassions. I got a new job in March this year, and paid my entire account off in full, in May this year. I closed this account. I am still getting mail to tell me I need to pay, and that i am listed. I spoke to someone in the call centre, who basically told me i will be listed for 2 years, as i am a bad payer, and there is nothing they can do for me. Really is that Legal? Please do not ever get an account with Mr Price. They are totally unhelpful, could not care a damn about their clients, and now i will have to take them to the consumer council to sort out my problem, as they refuse to unlist me.
