Missing item inside shop

I came with four items to exchange even security at the door counted snd wrote 4 items, went and bought few stuff and went for fittings, i asked the lady to pls hold on yo my stuff that i was exchanging while i fit some. Came back and went to till when i got to the till to my surprise the bag wasn’t there. It just doesn’t make sense how can a bag just dissapear.
