Gift card purchase

So I asked my boss to get me a gift card from Mr Price she got it for me. I went to Mr Price Rustenburg mall to go spend my money using the gift card of course, I thought to myself let me go now before month end (18 June) I was in a very long que eventually when I got to the pay point I informed the cashier I'm using a gift card she proceeded to till my items in the end I produce the gift card she tells me I need to produce an ID to my surprise Ive been using a gift card all my life how come this particular store I must produce an ID,mind you my boss was told I can use that card only no Identity. So I tell the lady I don't have my ID but I have my driver's license she tells me it's not acceptable. She then proceeded to tell me I can ask anyone in the store who has an ID to assist me, I went outside and asked a lady I don't know to help, just so I can buy. I'm not happy with the kind of service offered you guys should inform us before we do gift cards should have opted for another shop.☹️
