********** Mr Price!!!!
To whom it concerns @ Mr Price,
A month ago I received a call from Mr Price offering me a sim card from their newly launched Mr Price Mobile. Having declined this offer countless times based on the fact that they would charge me for delivering the card to my desired location and that it sounded more like a contract I insisted that I was not interested as I was sorted in this regard.
This time around, the lady I spoke to made it clear that it was a promotional sim card provided to loyal account holders as a thank you gesture which would be delivered to the address of my choice at no charge to myself. Questioned on how I would recharge this sim she mentioned that I could do so via my account or by purchasing a Cell-C voucher.
After probing on whether or not this was a contract in which payment would be required from myself via my account, and having been assured that it was not I accepted this offer and gave an address where delivery would be made.
Having paid off my account in full last month not even suspecting anything funny I proceeded to check my account balance at Mr Price Home Jabulani whilst shopping for a gift over the weekend. To my surprise I owed R100 to which the teller could not say what it was for as the system doesn't allow him to see such.
Reluctantly I made this payment of R100 and proceeded to make a purchase for a gift as planned but made it a point that I needed to check my account statement.
True to my intention I checked my account statement yesterday to find that R200 was relating to the sim top up connection fee and top up MRP 100 plus for last month. This cost to my account and the subsequent R100 payment made this weekend are in contradiction of what was agreed upon.
It is my conviction that Mr Price has acted maliciously and would like all costs relating to this to be refunded. I am happy to return your sim card as well, as this has meant that I have been signed up for a contract that I have no need for even after being assured that it was not a contract and no other charges would be required from me.
I am a happy Mr Price client but will have to close my account by this time next week if this is not sorted, as I have no intention of being associated with brands that act maliciously considering that this is tantamount to ***** due to misleading clients.
I have been in retail long enough to know how retailers such as yourselves conduct themselves to the detriment of consumers. Let me warn you I am not your average customer!!! I dare you to take me task if you so wish, as I wait anxiously to settle this in the court of public opinion alongside the processes of the relevant ombudsmen if needs be.
Having called MRP mobile this morning I was advised by a Siyasanda that the MRP 100 was a monthly R100 fee to be paid by myself. She said she would cancel it for me and would request a call audit to assess what was agreed on. I am happy with this and will await feedback by no later than the 19th.
She has advised that no further charges will be imposed onto my account, however the jury is out on this one. The outcome of all this will dictate what to do with my account as all these cost have not been budgeted for.
I can only hope that Mr Price at the very least will do the right thing.
