Disappointing Service Experience at Mr Price Sammy Marks, Pretoria

I recently had a rather unpleasant experience at the Mr Price store located in Sammy Marks, Pretoria, on Friday, November 24, 2023. The incident occurred during a routine shopping trip, and unfortunately, the encounter with one of the tellers left me dissatisfied with the level of customer service provided.

Upon reaching the checkout counter, the teller inquired about our method of payment, asking whether we were paying with cash or using our account. As customers opting to pay in cash, we expected a simple and straightforward process. However, the teller's communication and conduct left much to be desired.

Instead of directing us to her specific till, the teller proceeded to make a comment that caught us off guard. She said, "You are saying cash but you are just standing there," in a tone that could be perceived as rude. This left us confused, as it wasn't immediately clear that when she asked about our payment method, it imp**** we were to move to her designated checkout lane.

In such situations, clarity in communication is crucial, especially when dealing with customers who may not be fami**** with the store's procedures. A more customer-friendly approach would have been for the teller to politely explain that, when opting to pay in cash, customers are expected to proceed to her till for payment. This simple guidance would have prevented any misunderstanding and ensured a smoother transaction.

I believe that a positive shopping experience is not only about the products but is significantly influenced by the customer service provided. Unfortunately, this particular incident left a negative impression, and I hope that Mr Price takes steps to address such lapses in communication to ensure a more pleasant shopping experience for all customers.
