Cashier/Voucher issue

On Thursday 21/06/2018, I went to Mr Price Mall of Africa to buy some things I needed for travel over the weekend. My sister bought me a voucher for R500. I ended up seeing pending a little more, but thought I could top up the difference.

When I got to the cashier to pay for my clothes, I gave the assistant Lungile (Lukha) my voucher. Firstly she looked irritated that I had given it to her. With attitude ask her co-worker how the vouchers work to which she responded “just punch it in”. She made the input and the system rejected her in put. Without bothering to try again, although I had asked her to. Shw told me that the voucher only works at Mr Price Home and my sister needed to be there for me to use it?! I asked how because it’s a voucher that was gifted to me and furthermore my understanding is that it should work at any store within the Mr Price Group. She dismissed my argument and told me I have to pay cash for everything. Which I begrudgingly did as I had not budgeted for that amount.

I called my sister and told her about the ordeal, she in turn contacted the Mr Price contact centre and they explained that the voucher can be used at any Mr Price store.

I was quite disappointed in the lack of knowledge by a Mr Price employee about the company’s processes, but what upset me most was the attitude and dismissive nature with which she addressed me.

Now I have this voucher and I’m not sure if I can use it.
