Almost lost my eye at Mrp kids
On Sunday 17 April 2022 I went toe Mrp Kids Promenade mall looking for boots for my 5 year old. Unfortunately they did not have her size and I asked one of the floor staff ro check at other branches for her size. While she was busy doing this I browsed a bit more and saw this lovely unicorn takkies. Upon reaching for it one of these steel rods that the shoes hang on poked my lower eyelid with blood streaming down my face I called the sales lady that was busy with a customer and showed her what happened due to negligence. There was about 4 or 5 of these steel rods or spikes like they call it hanging there with no shoes or anything on and no signage whatsoever to be cautious. My 5 year old was shouting mommy are you okay, are you going to die. She was totally traumatized. The sales lady quickly removed the empty spike/hanger and I followed her to the cash desk where they said they're bringing the first aid kit. The store manager took me to the staff room and made me sit there all by myself with my 5 year old with blood streaming from my eye saying that she first had to print forms before she can assist me in anyway. I asked her to please just give me a cloth so I can try and stop the bleeding which would also calm my 5 year old and she told me due to covid she need to print these forms. Eventually she came with the form, i filled it out and she said their head office will get back to me. I left the store and checked if my doctor was open and unfortunately it was closed due to it being Sunday. While trying to pull into my driveway with my eye being swollen and being in so much pain I knocked my car on the left hand side due to not being able to see properly. I took some medication for the pain and my friend drove me to the police station for an accident report and also an affidavit. Monday the 18th I went to see my Dr and Mrp Kids manager who was there the day of the incident requested the invoice. Today Mrp store manager calls me to say head offi e informed them that I may collect the money spent at doctor and that's it. Not one area manager or anyone from head office contacted me to see how myself or my 5 year old is doing after this incident due to their staff negligence but received an email after complaining online saying'sorry for the inconvenience caused'. I've tried contacting Mrp head office endlessly and each time when I explain to the consultant what had happened and that I would like someone at head office to contact me, the call gets drop. I am extremely disappointed as to how they have been dealing with the situation as I might have life long problems with my eye, never-ending the trauma my 5 yearbold had to insure.
