Account registration misinformation

I visited a Mr Price branch and was enticed into opening an account for myself by the staff. From my understanding I must present my proof of identity and a 3 month bank statement or 3 month payslips. I even went as far as providing a letter from my employer confirming the terms of my employment. I was very disappointed when I was told that I, in fact do not qualify for an account and to worsen matters I was not supp**** with an exact reason as to why I do not qualify. I am failing to understand how application is denied when a potential client does in fact meet the minimum requirements as stated by the website.
