Neglected by nurses, terrible treatment.

I spent four days at Mowbray Maternity Hospital, and I found the experience incredibly traumatic and invasive. Nine months later I am still coming to terms with the terrible experience I had at this hospital. I was honestly made to feel like an animal, there is absolutely no regard for the individual patient, and no privacy whatsoever, my body felt exposed and violated in many ways. That is something I have deeply internalized and feel present on my body on a day to day basis. The nurses were rude and treated me as if they did not have the time of day to give me basic assistance, I honestly felt like an inconvenience and nothing else. I seldomly understood what was happening and often felt neglected and forgotten about. I was so desperate to leave that I felt myself falling into a state of depression that was preventing me from bonding with my baby.

My baby was born in winter and they took away all of the clothes and blankets I had packed in my hospital bag. My baby was shivering and his feet were blue, what still there was a draft coming in from the window yet they refused to let me dress him, all they gave to me were two incredibly rough and hard towels that gave my baby rashes on his bare skin. He lost alot of weight due to that and when they finally returned the clothes I had packed when I was due to check out, I found some of the things were missing.

My experience at this hospital was a nightmare, I would never recommend this place to anyone.
