Movit Mobility gave their "personal company guarantees" but when came to packing us up it turned out they had subcontracted another moving company to do it - without so much as telling us. Next, they had assured "the fastest route; earliest sailing" (SA-UK) but turns out (again without telling us) they routed the container an extra countless thousands of miles via Singapore + transfer to another ship, adding a week in port and a further week or more to the journey time. Finally, we had bought plenty of insurance, and when we had a minor claim (under R5,000) we were made to wait almost a year (and send 30+ emails, a lawyers letter, and threaten the UK moving counterpart with UK Trading Standards, before the undisputed claim was settled.

The Gordon move was packed and loaded by Movit Mobility staff but the actual shipment was managed by our Group's Central Shipping Division. This might have caused confusion and the assumption that the move had been subcontracted to our sister company.
At no time did we promise the Gordon's the "the fastest route; earliest sailing" I think they might have gotton us confused with another moving company. We did however promise them the most competitive rate and a 6 week transit time, as most moving companies do. It is common practise to ship consignments via hubs as this is the most cost effective way to ship a consignment....very much like flying Emirates to Bangkok via Dubai.
The Gordon's are however correct when it came to the settlement of their claim. A stain glass window was cracked and had to be repaired. Their claim was submitted to our Insurers, FP Marine in the UK. It should have been a very simple and quick settlement as the Gordon's are now also living the UK. What transpired was that FP Marine closed their London office and routed all their claims through to their Hong Kong Head Office and unfortunately their claim was mislaid in this process. It took alot of 'behind the scenes' work to get the claim settled and we had to eventually take the matter to the Executive of FP Marine to get it resolved. FP Marine did apologise to the Gordons for the delay. It was an unbearable situation and we understand their frustration.
We however object to being called slimy and underhanded. The fact of the matter is that the consignment did arrive and was delivered in the time promised and their claim was settled in the end. We do however again apologise for the inconvenience and frustration caused by the delay in settling their claim.
Best regards,
