Motus Ford Plumstead - Terrible service
I purchased a 2019 Ford Fiesta in November 2019 from a Ford dealership in George. It was a demo model and at the time of purchasing the vehicle it only had 11000kms on the clock. In February 2020 (not even 3 months later) the air con stopped working. I had also reached 15000kms and therefore booked it in at Motus Ford in Plumstead on Monday the 17th of Feb. I explained that I needed someone to look at the air con as it had stopped blowing cold air and also asked whether it was due for a service. The Service manager, Kobus, assisted me with booking my car in and on filling out the paperwork, he discovered that my number plates didn't match my license disc. He also couldn't tell me if a service was due at 15000km or 20000km and told me he would check and let me know. I then called the George dealership where I purchased the car regarding the incorrect number plates and the manager, Deo, apologized and assured me that the new plates would be ready and fitted by the time my car was ready to be collected. He would arrange this with Plumstead himself. I also asked him when I would be receiving the spare key which had not been handed over yet and he said he would courier it to the Plumstead dealership immediately. I eventually called Motus Plumstead that afternoon as I had heard nothing regarding my car. I was not notified that they had looked at my aircon nor whether or not it was due for a service. I was put through to Lyle who told me they had done the service but could not find any fault with the aircon. He told me that it had simply run out of gas and to refill would cost me R600 and that actually they are not equipped to do this and therefore I would need to take my car to Paarden Eiland. I found it very hard to believe that a car which was not even a year old yet could run out of gas so soon but his response to me was "Well, I don't know how you drive the car." I then asked him whether or not the new number plates had been fitted and he told me yes they had and that it was going to cost me another R200. By this time I was fuming and asked to speak to Kobus, the manager when I collected my car. He agreed with me that there must be something wrong as the air con should not have run out of gas so soon. He said he would contact Paarden Eiland himself to explain the situation and get my car booked in to be checked. I left on that Monday afternoon with a promise of being called back with details of when I could take in my car. By Wednesday afternoon I had still not heard anything so I called him. I was told they would only be able to look at my car the following week which did not suit me as I was going away for business and needed it sorted sooner. He said he would call them again and let me know but by 11am on Thursday I was still waiting for his call. I then took it upon myself to drive to Paarden Eiland and insisted that my car was looked at then and there. They obliged and discovered that there was a pipe that needed to be replaced as it had eroded and this was where the gas was leaking from. Unfortunately they had to order the part and could only fix my car the following week. By this time, Kobus had still not phoned me. Neither had anyone contacted me about my spare key. Again, I took it upon myself to physically go to Motus Plumstead. The key had been received by the dealership but no one thought to pick up a phone to find out who it was for (my name was on the tag). It is now 4 months after Motus Plumstead supposedly serviced my car. I cannot say for sure because the service book was not stamped. I have noticed a message pop up saying that I am due an oil change soon. I would like to know if the service was actually done and whether it is possible to need an oil change only 4 months and 3000kms after a service? I have called Motus Plumstead but have not been able to speak to either Lyle or Kobus. I have once again been promised that they will call me back but neither of them have had the decency to do so ever. I will escalate this matter to Ford SA so that they are aware of the shockingly poor service their dealership is providing. I will never recommend Motus Plumstead to anyone. In fact, my husband who has been driving a Ford for 10 years now, would have liked to support them as they are conveniently located but definitely won't after my experience.
