Avoid Audi Centre Sandton - Katherine Street

Imagine the worst service experience one can think of and multiply that a few times over.

What should have been a routine Audi full service and repair on my vehicle turned into a massive waste of time and money.

I called in to book my vehicle for a full service and specifically requested that they check my gear box as I believed my first gear to be slipping or have some issue. Why ? Whenever i would pull off there was a shudder/shake but on any other gear the car was fine. I had also requested this specific check as a mechanic who had worked on the car once before said it must certainly be a gear box related issue.

Now although they didn't know i had gotten an opinion before brining in the vehicle they didn't actually need to. After all surely they would do their own checks, they are Audi after all.

The service manager who took my car in on the morning promised me a "comprehensive vehicle assessment" that would pick up "any issue with the vehicle" after which they would call and advise of what costs were required to make any repairs over and above the R7K + full service.

Later that day i got a call saying they had run this supposed comprehensive check and found an issue only with engine mountings , lower control arm and conn links.Outside of other replacements that are standard with a major service. Remember this is after what i said and their "comprehensive check"

The quote i received was for R31154, 000 which i said i'm happy to pay provided this means all issues found and mentioned will be resolved. Logical right because why would I pay this amount if my issues ( that i mentioned so many times) would not be fixed.

Needless to say after paying , i picked up the vehicle 3 days later and to my surprise the issue was still there. The next day I was advised i could bring it back and do a test drive with a technician to reproduce the problem. We took a drive and less than 5min later we were back as the issue was reproduced whilst pulling out the dealer. Meaning no test drive could possibly have been done in my opinion.

I then got a call saying there is an issue with the gearbox and the costs would be much the same as the last quote. After the so called comprehensive tests , checks , specifically mentioning the issue etc

After conceding i was offered a partial assistance to cover some costs of the new quote but that would have required i still fork out R27+ K with no "new" guarantee of whether or not the issue would be resolved.
