Will not pay out for claim

Took out a Motorvaps Body Maintenance plan in December 2017, which is supposed to cover minor dents, scratches, chips, etc. under the value of R3000.

A few weeks ago, my motorized gate to my property malfunctioned and came back slightly onto the side of the car, causing a minor dent. I filled out the claim forms and obtained a quote for the repair from an authorized repairer. The quote came to less than R3000. I sent through all the documentation to Motorvaps. After about a week or so, they rep**** with a rejection letter to say that they will not cover the damage.

This is unacceptable because it honours all the necessary requirements! It is a minor dent under R3000 value, and was not obtained as a result of a motor vehicle collision or any kind of on-the-Road negligence. Apparently it only includes "day to day activities" and when asked to give examples of how a minor dent would be caused by a day-to-day activity, the call center assistant says e.g. If a garage door comes down on a car! How is that different to a motorized gate coming back on a car?!

I paid this policy in full, upfront, and am really regretting it because now it will not be possible to get any of that money back! I find this completely unacceptable.
