I signed up with MotorVaps/MVIA for their service plan just over a year ago.

In the beginning, all was well and they were happy to take my money so, the 1st claim went well. They continued taking my premiums as arranged and then I lost my job and started making manual payments because UIF doesn't always come in at the same time. It's hard to stick to debit order dates in such instances. I would send proofs of payment of the manual payments that I made EVERY SINGLE MONTH!! The payments would not be allocated and, I would have to call them EVERY MONTH to request that they be allocated even though I ALWAYS used the correct reference number. This went on for 10 months!
I changed my banking details after finding a job again and, having them update that on their system was yet another nightmare. Calling almost every week, holding for countless minutes and, sending numerous follow up emails for a full month, just to update my banking details. Then all seemed to go back to normal and, I lodged my 2nd claim. This one went off without a hitch, except they paid the dealership 4 days after the car had been serviced and released to me. I was advised that the dealership took too long to send the required documents to the service provider, that's why the payment took so long... until I lodged my 3rd claim. It was assessed and I was advised that I would need to pay an additional R 262.96 as an activation premium (because my driving pattern had changed and I was now doing more kilometers within a 12 month period) and that, the car would be serviced thereafter and that with the FULL invoice amount being covered. I made arrangements for the full premium of R 547.83 to be deducted on my debit order date and booked my car in for a service 2 days later (9 Jun 23.)
The dealership communicated with the service provider and provided them with a quote before 07:30 today. The service provider responded to say that the quote was wrong and, that it needed to be amended. The quote was amended and tailored to the amount as per the authorization letter received from the service provider. The service provider then came back to advise the dealership that some of the items in the quote aren't covered. The dealership amended the quote, yet again, removing the items that aren't included and then sent back to the service provider and then there was silence from the service provider. I was contacted by the dealership to provide me with a progress report, or the lack thereof so, I called the service provider twice between 10:30 and 12:00, having resent the quote from my personal email address and cc'ing the dealership. This was me trying to push for payment because the payment department doesn't process any new submissions after 13:00. I was fast running out of time and resources! They acknowledged that the email was received and will be processed, so I relaxed under the impression that everything was going according to plan.
At 14:50, I called my dad to find out how he was doing, he told me that he had been waiting for more than 2 hours for the car. To my surprise, he told me that the service provider hadn't made payment yet. I called the service provider and, after being on hold for over 15 minutes because the consultant wanted to find out what the hold up was. I was advised that the payment wasn't made because the quote didn't meet the requirements and, it would have to be resent, but that the payment department had knocked off for the day so, they would not be unable to assist me. I asked her why they didn't respond to my email earlier or those from the dealership and, all she could do was apologize. I asked what the way forward was and, she put me on hold for another 30 minutes only to tell me that they are willing to send an email to the dealership to let them know that they will make payment once the quote is amended and, that the dealership should release the car. Obviously, because the last service authorization amount took 4 days to reach them, they refused to release the car on a mere email. I spent over R 100.00, today alone, on airtime trying to sort this mess out and I still ended up having to drive from Alberton to pick my father up from PTA CBD because his car wasn't released. As we speak, the car will be spending the weekend at the dealership until the payment from the service provider reflects. 😡😡😡😡😡
Don't ever sign up for anything with MotorVaps or MotorHappy if you want piece of mind, they treated me like they're doing me a favour when I'm actually paying for the world's worst service.

Please guys, do not take a policy up with this company... and to think I canceled a policy with them for another car because of bad service as well and almost took up a warranty plan. I can't wait for this contract to end so I can be rid of these people!
Bad service is never excusable, EVER!!
