Useless extended warranty policy

What a waste of money after having taken this policy. Everything that went wrong in my is never covered. This is how they make money off us.

Dear Sir,

Motorite has reviewed your complaint and duly noted your comments– we wish to address your complaint as follows:

The product that forms the basis of this complaint is a WesBank Prestige mechanical breakdown warranty underwritten by Infiniti Insurance Ltd. of which Motorite Administrators (Pty) Ltd. act as the appointed claims administrator. The policy provides cover for the failure of specified mechanical and electrical components subject to the policy terms and conditions being adhered to whereby the applicable limits of liability apply. The policy incepted on the 30/11/2016 at 117 000 km and runs for a period of 2 years.

Mechanical breakdown or electrical failure means the breaking of any of the components listed in the components covered, that results from a mechanical or electrical failure and that suddenly stops functioning, needing repair or replacement.

The claim in contention was logged with Motorite on the 05/03/2018 at 143 766 km by Woodford Motors. The repairer reported that vehicles ignition lock and housing required replacement. The normal claims procedure was followed whereby we requested the quotation.

Upon receiving the requested information – Motorite proceeded to reject the claim for the ignition lock and housing as these components are not listed as covered components within the ambit of the warranty policy and therefore resulted in the rejection of the claim.

Your policy wording refers:

Electronic Ignition

All solid-state control and triggered units including ignition control unit (ECU) where fitted as standard by the Manufacturer, excluding ignition switch and barrel;

Please note that your policy does not cover every eventuality and hence the need to fully understand what is covered within the ambit of the warranty policy.

In view of the matter - Motorite remains of the opinion that your claim was administered correctly, in line with the policy terms and conditions.
