Rejecting claims

So my bakkie broke down and got towed in to Tata Helderberg.

Something in the steering broke so my wheels cant turn. I have a paper which I got on the day when I signed up with Motorite. They cover ALOT of things and the one was "steering".

Tata send the quote to them and they rejected it. I called them and asked why and then they said but that is not in the policy and blah blah. So is this then false advertising? They say they cover R6000 in steering but wont pay R4400 for the garage to fix this.

I see there is alot of comaplains on the internet about Motorite. How can you guys still be in business??

Paying for nothing!!!!!

Dear Sir,

Motorite has reviewed your complaint and duly noted your comments – we wish to address your complaint as follows:

The product that forms the basis of this complaint is an Options Formula Extreme Respect mechanical breakdown warranty underwritten by Infiniti Insurance Ltd. of which Motorite Administrators (Pty) Ltd. act as the appointed claims administrator. The policy provides cover for the failure of specified mechanical and electrical components subject to the policy terms and conditions being adhered to whereby the applicable limits of liability apply. The policy incepted on the 22/12/2017 at 95 000 km and runs for a period of 2 years.

The claim in contention was logged with Motorite on the 29/03/2018 at 136 533 km by Kia Motors Sa Pty Ltd T/A Helderberg Multifranchise. The repairer reported that the vehicle was brought in as something snapped from the undercarriage of the vehicle and established that the steering rod requires replacement. The normal claims procedure was followed whereby we requested the vehicles service record, written failure report and quotation.

Upon receiving the requested information – Motorite proceeded to reject the claim for the steering rod as this components is not listed as a covered component under the steering system benefit category.

The policy wording refers:

19 Parts covered by this Policy

Steering cover excludes rubber boots. Please note: Tie-rod end cover is subject to mechanical failure only;

20 Items not covered by this Policy

We are not liable for:

(a) All parts not listed under Parts Covered in Clause 19;

Please note that your policy does not cover every eventuality and hence the need to fully understand what is covered within the ambit of the warranty policy.

In view of the matter - Motorite remains of the opinion that your claim was administered correctly, in line with the policy terms and conditions.

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity of investigating your complaint.
