Late Service Notification

Contract No: CMHMP100132 My vehicle was purchased from CMH Umhlanga GM on the 22nd February 2017 as a used vehicle. I had included in the purchase a Plan A Maintenance Pan for my Chevrolet Utility 1.4 Sport. Prior to collection of the vehicle CMH Umhlanga GM did Service 2 on the vehicle which is the 30000km or 24 months service. The mileage at the time on the vehicle was 24630km. When the Maintenance plan was purchased why did you’ll not query at time of purchase why the 15000km service was skipped with the selling dealership? One year later after I carried out the scheduled service on the vehicle you’ll are sending me a Late Service Notification letter with your terms and conditions about oil failure related or late service failures won’t be covered. I want to bring to your attention that from the time I had purchased my vehicle I have kept to the service intervals. Any service intervals prior to purchase of the vehicle and your product should have been raised on inception of purchase. I expect a written apology and a retraction of the letter you sent me with regards to a Late Service Notification.

Dear Sir,

Motorite has investigated the complaint and noted the comments.

The product that forms the basis of this complaint is a CMH (Plan A) Maintenance plan administered by Motorite Administrators (Pty) Ltd. The maintenance plan provides cover for maintenance and mechanical repairs needed by the vehicle because of normal wear and tear and mechanical failure and the routine services as scheduled by the manufacturer. The maintenance plan incepted on the 22/02/2017 at 25 000 km and runs for a period of 5 years and up to 60 000 km - the expiry of this plan is dependent on whichever is reached first.

The sale of this product was facilitated through a mandated intermediary whereby Motorite was not present at point of sale and therefore regrettably cannot validate any sales discussions held at that point.

Our records indicate that a late service notification letter was sent to you on the 12/03/2018. It was noted that the vehicle skipped the 15 000km service.

As per the plan terms and conditions, if the vehicle does not have an up-to-date and fully valid service history it does not qualify for this plan. The plan wording refers:

Service History

If the vehicle does not have an up-to-date and fully valid service history it does not qualify for this plan. It is your duty as well as the Selling Dealership's duty to verify this before purchasing the plan. If this is not done, the plan will be invalid, and claims against it will be rejected. A copy of service history must be retained, as this may be requested in the event of a claim. It is recommended that a copy of such proof is attached to the application form at point of sale

The merits of the matter were further reviewed and discussed with claims management who have agreed to retract the later service notification letter as the service was skipped prior to you taking ownership of the vehicle. Please note that you will receive a retraction letter.

We trust this outcome meets your satisfaction and thank you for your patience herein.

Kind regards
