"Full Cover" with silent exclusion. My first and last business with Motorite
<p>I bought a VW Polo Vivo in June 2014, the car came with a cover from Motorite OPTIMUM MOTOR DIVE PLAN A. I paid for the "Full cover" wich the contract says "NO SPECIFIC EXCLUSIONS"</p> <p>This cover was for 60,000 KM or 60 months.</p> <p> </p> <p>You can imagine how safe i felt having this cover.</p> <p>At 49930km i had a problem with my clutch, VW said it was skipping and it needed to be replaced. Morite then tells me about their "EXCLUSION" which is: They do not pay for a clutch repair for vehicles with less than 60,000km.</p> <p>Which got me thinking, if i bought a new car with 0km, why didnt Motorite tell me that my cover does not include a clutch. If my had 59****m Motorite would still reject my claim.</p> <p>I then asked Jason Macintosh, which circumstances would lead to the clutch repairs on a cover for a new car. He ignored my question and told me about a clause about excessive driving.</p> <p> </p> <p>Please do not put your self into this mess of a Maintanace Plan, they have silly clauses which they pull once you need them to pay repairs.</p> <p>I have paid them in full when buying my car, so Im just waiting for this cover to end and then get someone reliable.</p> <p> </p> <p>Never again.</p>

Dear Sir,
Motorite has reviewed this complaint and noted the policy holder’s comments – we wish to respond as follows:
Industry norms are calculated from the analysis of internal claims statistics of the replacement of various wear and tear components on the different vehicles makes and models relating to customers claims. Averages and standards are then taken into account of what is considered to be fair, usual kilometres in which these wear and tear components should last and, or be replaced on a vehicle. The Industry norm for clutch replacement is only considered at 60 000 km.
Your vehicles clutch has failed pre-maturely and there is no mechanical failure nor is that normal wear and tear. It should be noted that this is not a silent clause in the contract as your contract reflects:
Clause: 6a
Paragraph: (xiv)
Claims For Wear And Tear Arising From Abnormal, Unfair Usage Or Poor Driver technique. Such Claims Include, But Are Not Limited To, Clutch And Brake Lining wearing Prematurely. As An Overriding Rule, Industry Norms For Brake replacement Cycles Will Apply, And Also A Minimum Of 75% Usage Must Be obtained Before Brake Linings Are Considered For Replacement. However, This will Still Be Subject To A “fair Wear And Tear” Assessment. Brake Disc Replacement will Only Be Considered If The Component Is Outside The Manufacturer's' specification, As Well As Machine (skimming) Tolerance.
&
Clause: 5a
Paragraph: (ii)
Maintenance And Mechanical Repairs Needed By The Vehicle Because Of Normal wear And Tear And Mechanical Failure. It Is Not The Intention Of This Contract To make New From Old In Terms Of The Vehicle, Only To Maintain The Vehicle In A roadworthy Condition For The Duration Of The Contract. In Performing Our Duties under This Clause We May, At Our Option, Repair Or Replace Any Damaged Parts, and Service-exchange Units (pre-overhauled Replacement Units) May, At Our sole Discretion, Be Used Where Applicable. We Reserve The Right To Repair Items as Opposed To Replacing Items, Whether Or Not The Item To Be Repaired Forms Part of A Cluster Of Parts Or Instruments Or The Like; Parts Or Units Removed For replacement Become Our Property.
Motorite remains of the opinion that the claim was administered correctly and in line with the contract terms and conditions
Kind Regards,
Risk Management Complaints Division
