Breach of contract
I have a Wesbank Prestige Plus Warranty with motorite which covers among, others, the car engine. My car engine seized and as per the contract, the cover for a used vehicle (over 150000kms) is R35000. To my surprise, when I contacted Motorite, I was informed that they will pay R9000 inclusive of VAT. I am very much concerned because the R9000 that they want to pay is a cover for over-fuelling. <br> <br> The results of the tests that were done on the engine were that:<br> -possible injector failure on no 1 cylinder<br> - possible fuel feed constant, causing piston in no1 cylinder to melt<br> - engine seized<br> <br> Further tests where conducted on the injectors and the results were that from testing, 3 out 4 failed the leak test. I was informed that as per the report from the company that conducted the tests, no fuel contamination was picked up, and the cause of the engine failure was due to normal wear and tear.<br> <br> I would really appreciate your assistance as the engine is currently being repaired. This is not the first time I am writing to Hellopeter about the matter. The first complaint was written 3 weeks ago and I have not received a response.<br> <br>

Motorite has reviewed your complaint and noted your comments . As per the policy terms and conditions - the cause of failure determines the applicable benefit. Our records indicate that the cause of failure in this instance was over-fuelling as a result of defective injectors. The failure of these injectors was confirmed by a test report and furthermore the resultant damage was confirmed by an independent assessor who confirmed that this type of engine damage was indicative of over-fuelling. In view of the matter - Motorite approved the over-fuelling benefit - we remain of the opinion that your claim was administered correctly and in line with the policy terms and conditions.
