The worst are the lies, the incompetence and poor service

I took my Audi A6 to Motolube Fourways Crossing for service on the 17th October 2018. The car was serviced and I collected it, accompanied by a list of issues recommended for attention in the near future. They measured battery state of health at 80%, and battery state of charge at 100%. After doing just under 80 km, I parked the car in Johannesburg and flew back to Cape Town where I normally work. Coming back to Johannesburg towards the end of November, the car would not start as something was depleting the battery. AA towed the car to MotoLube on 27th November 2018 for diagnosis and fixing. Communicating telephonically and by email, I agreed that they attend to some of the ailments they had identified. These included a brake fluid flush, a steering rack reconditioning, some ATF and labour, in total costing R 19 959. I gave them a deadline of 12th December 2018 as I would then be commencing my holiday travel. Arriving on the 12th, the car had a dent. The battery terminal had been taken off because the car “was consuming the battery”. Their Dylan informed me the brake lights remain on. Obviously I was furious that they would attend to other things and not to the problem for which the car was towed in in the first place. They “attended” to the issue while I waited for hours. Johan undertook to repair the dent when workshops re-open in January. Stupidly I paid without a test drive. On driving the car home, the brakes were malfunctioning, the steering had massive amounts of play and column noises. When they could not fix the car by the 13th still, I insisted on a courtesy car. After hours of waiting, I was given a Hundai Tucson. Having driven off, it turned out the alternator was not working, the wipers were not working, and because the battery was not charging, the lights were not functioning. On my drive way, the tie-rod ends gave in and the front wheels were operating independently of each other both facing inwards. This could have happened on the freeway and I would probably be dead. I called them to collect the car. Furious I went back to insist on a courtesy car. On the 18th December I was given a tiny Toyota Yaris. This put an end to my already ruined family holiday travel plans. I gave them space to deal with the issues, and on 16th January 2019 they said the car is fixed and ready for collection. I sent them a check-list to which they responded on 31 January 2019. Making my way from Cape Town, I collected the car on 06th February 2019. In the 2,6 km I drove, the car was worse. Steering wheel play, misfiring engine, all manner of dashboard warning lights including brakes, ABS, airbag, you name it. Like the real ***** they are, they ticked all the boxes on my check-list which was speaking to these specific issues. Because trust with the lying Dylan and his boss was broken, I took the car for a DEKRA mechanical test that cost me a further R 1 306. The flaws were confirmed. I took the car back with the Dekra report on 25th March 2019. On the 17th April they sent me a quotation, soliciting more money to “repair” even more stuff. I collected the car on 18th April 2018, missing battery covers, faults and all, and would be happy never to see Motolube again.

Be warned. This might happen to you!
