*********** and dishonest service
I booked 2 weeks ago to get my car services this past Saturday. I have taken previous cars to Moto-Lube Fourways, so i knew they’re professional. Took my car in, all is well. About an hour later i get a call where this guy tells me i need to get a diesel filter replaced, i need an engine flush and “a couple of other things”. I was confused, as Moto-Lube website specifies that a diesel filter is included in the service costs, and the price suddenly more than doubled. Told the guy i most certainly cannot afford that, but he insisted the diesel filter is necessary. When i collected my car, they were still fiddling with the radio and there were items on the invoice that made no sense to me, so i felt a bit uneasy and asked my husband and neighbor (who’s also a mechanic) to look things over for me, just to make sure i have nothing to worry about. What we found was that the oil had not been changed as it’s pitch black. My husband’s car was serviced 10000km ago, has more than double my mileage, and his oil looks brand new. Even the mechanic neighbor’s oil didn’t look like mine and was serviced 5000km ago and the car is 20 years old. Included in the service was 5 litres of oil. I would really like to see how you make 5 litres fit into a little ford figo... Also, the intake pipe was hanging loose and wasn’t bolted back down on one side. My husband eventually found the missing bolt, without the nut, above the engine bay where the bonnet closes. This all scares me because I don’t know what else MotoLube fiddled with and either didn’t replace or put back properly. I called and spoke to Dylan, which wasn’t helpful at all. Under work identified not authorized by customer, they listed cambelt kit. Now why would i need a cambelt kit replacement on the second service of my car? Dylan said it wasn’t supposed to be on there. Then i asked about the engine flush that the guy who called told me about, Dylan said it’s not necessary because the mileage is too low. So this all sounds like these people don’t know what they’re doing. Dylan really sounded like i was boring him and had an excuse ready for everything. All he kept saying towards the end is bring your car then I’ll do another oil change in front of you. But the point is i paid a hell of a lot for MotoLube to do this service and they didn’t do a good job, even if i go to get the oil changed again, how can i be sure that everything else was actually done? I’m going to have to take my car somewhere else to get a proper job done
