Shocking service - George

Yesterday evening I received the most shocking experience which scared me and my daughter now for life. The manager on duty had such aggressive attitude for a man towards me as woman that I was shaken, all because of proof of banking details. When I took out the contract beginning of June I asked if I can pay cash each month and was informed yes I may, When I handed over my registration fee I informed \as well that I will pay cash. The sales person asked for banking details but since I informed I be paying cash did not take notice. Day or two later I was asked again for the banking proof/ a pic on which my banking details is. I send in pic of my bank card with the nr on it. They informed me this is not satisfactory. I then went on internet banking and took a photo (I do everything by internet). I was informed this was not satisfactory on Mondayevening. I informed the sales person that I can only go on Saturday to the bank and he confirmed (in presence of a witness) that that will do as they need the stamp on. When I arrived on Thursday evening I was refused admission. The manager on duty came to the front desk. I started to speak and this manager (Andre) just started to interrupt me. I could not get a sentence in. When I eventually asked him to keep quite when I am speaking, I informed him according to the consumer law I am entitled to not give out my banking proof. (This upset him even more and at one stage I though he will attack me) and he informed me that Motion has lawyers and that the statement which I just made is incorrect. Which makes me wonder what kind of lawyers does Motion have. This all happens in the presence of my 10 year old daughter and gym partner. When my gym partner wanted to say something the manager threw his hand in the air like stop sign and said he is not the person that deals with complaints. When we left my daughter informed me that that man was so rude she thinks he does not have manners. Wow what a great way to show a girl that men are more powerfull and can do what they want. I work for a company where we have a health and fitness person and he sended us a mail to register at motion. I informed him this morning if I ever see a mail again form motion going out I will personally send a mail to the whole company to inform them what service I received and to stay away. As far as I know I you do not pay you cannot go in so why is the banking details a problem if I already paid. I will be sending this to the local newspaper and FB as well. The others needs to be warned. What happend to customer services?

Good Morning,

Firstly let me start by apologising for any inconvenience and embarrassment that this situation may have caused you.

We do currently have a few new membership consultants employed at our club in George and whilst i am sure that was no intention to mislead you, we unfortunately do not have a membership option available whereby you can pay cash each month over the counter, at the same rate as the debit order memberships. We can accommodate you on a month to month membership, that is paid monthly in cash but this will be at a different price as to what you are currently paying. Members who pay monthly, via debit order for either a 12 or 24 month period will qualify for a rate which is lower than a member that pays each month, for the current month with no fixed agreed to time period. We would however be able to give you some discount if you enrolled for a 3 month membership, paid for in full. Either of these two options would give you the benefit of not supplying your banking details, which is totally your decision. We however do have numerous other solutions for your problem and we will be more than happy to resolve this concern in what ever way will best suit your needs.

I will be taking this incident up with management as it is clearly unacceptable, it is not what our brand stands for and we take our members, their experiences and how we treat them very seriously. Once again, please except our apology for the poor service and experience you received.

Regards

Neil Strangleman
