Motion fitness all smiles to take your money, but never cancel your membership

Well seems like I am not the only one that complains about Motion Fitness especially Worcester branch.

This is the first time that have to go to a public site to complain about bad service.

I took out a 24 month contract out at Motion Fitness in October last year 2016. Well we never know what happens in the future, so my future had a masive positive turn, and it reqiueres me to relocate to Mpumalanga for my new work.

When I went to the Worcester branch, they informed me that I need to fill in the cancelation an bring proof of my new apointment, which I did. They informed me taht they will contact me in a few days. 2 weeks down the line, still no contact from them, so I went to the club, on which the employee of motion fitness said my request was declined, without any explanation why, I said "I know there is a cancalation fee, and are will to pay the cancelation fee." The employee assured me to be following up that same day and contact me, well here I am writing this review about the unemotionaly fitness gym.

This morning I phoned and ask to speek to the branch manager, which as usual are out, I requested to have the head offices number, and the reply was straight forward sorry we are not allowed to give head offices number. Well I will also not want to give out my head offices number if I have more complaints about my gyn than happy clients. My response to the emplyee was simple, the internet gives out a lot of info, and yes I got the head offices number.

There was a manager that acctually said she will assist me, but a yes still no joy.

I have read this morning in our local newspaper a intersting artical and yes you guest it about Motion Fitness Worcester, and the person has a simmilar problem as I have. This person that wrote the artical actually gave the dircet information on what the consumor law states. The law the person directed us is: Wet 68 van 2008 srtikels 14(2)(i) en 14(3), there you can see that the practice of Worcester Motion Fitness is ********l.

There was even members that cancled their contracts from Worcester motion fitness who ended up being black listed, which proves my title: all smiles when they can take your money, but never cancel the membership, you will be ignored or blac listed.

To the CEO of Motion Fitness, sorry to have place this on a public page, but I have seen your replies on other complaints.

PLEASE give urgent attention to the Worcester branch, because you will be receiving more clomplaints in the future and posible further lawfull action.

Good Morning,

Thank you for taking the time to post, whilst its never pleasant to hear, it does give us the opportunity to respond and resolve your query. Firstly let me apologise for any inconvenience or frustration that this situation may have caused.

Firstly, you are correct in your note of the Act, however for that to take place, two factors needs to be met. You need to ensure that your membership is up to date for the time period that you have used the membership, if that is the case, we will then allow you to cancel your membership even if it is within the minimum duration on the condition that you pay a cancellation fee, which is a percentage of the outstanding membership fees that are due until the membership expires. Alternatively, if you find that you are not in a position to pay the cancellation fee, you may find a person to transfer the membership across to. You need to find that person and there is a R295.00 transfer fee applicable but we will assist with the transfer of the membership at the club. We allow the transfer option as well as life does change our circumstances and sometimes not for the best.

As far as the blacklisting goes you claim we have done. This is in fact incorrect, to date, we have only handed across arrear memberships to a legal company, namely, Ward, Ward and Pienaar for collection. Arrear memberships that have been handed across are at least 90 days in arrears, but to date we have not blacklisted any of our members.

I hope this answers any questions that you may have had as well as clearing up any misconceptions that you may have had.

Regards

Neil Strangleman

Good day Neil

Thank you for the reply.

I would just want to say thank you also for Hershall at Worcester Motion fittness, I belive he is the manager of sales in the Worcester branch. He assited me in sorting out the decline.

I was paid up to date when I was requesting the cancelation, but head office declined it with out reason, but Herschell assited me and he him self requested it from head office, after which he resolved the matter.

So once again thank you for the assitance.

Kind regrads
