Do NOT trust Mother Earth Boutique

I had a very bad experience with dress maker Sue Hicks of Mother Earth Boutique in Chartwell. I warn anyone and everyone who considers her as a dress maker to stay away! 6 months before my wedding, I went to her to start designing my wedding dress and my brides****s dresses, so that there would be more than enough time to have the dresses completed in time. I paid 60% deposit which was more than the wedding dress alone's cost. Over the next few months I always had to contact her asking how the dresses were coming along. 3 weeks before the wedding, I still had not seen any evidence of a dress. Then excuses kept coming from her why I couldn't have any fittings (mother-in-law died, she had to sell her products at a market, other appointments, etc, etc, etc). This caused me lots of stress, which is not fair to do to a bride before her wedding! She claimed the dresses were finished a week before the time. 4 days before I was meant to leave for my wedding, she finally had time for me to pick up the completed dresses. That morning she phoned to say that the brides****s dresses had been destroyed in the heavy rains several days earlier. How does that happen!?! To this day I have never seen any evidence that this is true! When I arrived that day, my wedding dress was not what I had asked for. She had to cancel the rest of her appointments that day to fix it urgently (which is exactly what I was trying to avoid by starting 6 months early!). She also **** to me. The material I wanted was a smooth satin. She said she couldn't find it in white, so she got a crushed satin that she said could be steamed smooth, which I believed, since I am not a dress maker who would know these things. Firstly, she had 6 months to find the correct satin in white! And secondly, she **** about being able to steam it smooth! I had to drive all over Gauteng looking for a drycleaner who could steam it the same day (apparently it takes several days at most drycleaners. I didn't have several days!) and then I was told that that material would NEVER be able to be steamed smooth. They did the best they could, but I had to wear a wrinkled dress on my wedding! She still owes me money, since I never received my brides****s dresses and I had already paid more than the wedding dress. I warn anyone considering her as a dress maker ... DO NOT trust her! She is unprofessional and a ****!
