Stay Away From Morrambene Beach Resort - Mozambique

I would like to issue a warning to all potential clients of Morrambene Beach Resort in Mozambique, with owner Charl Basson.

Firstly, there was nobody at the gate to greet us when we arrived at the resort. We had to stand in the blazing sun, waiting for an attendant that never came. Eventually, my husband had to walk down to the resort to summon someone to help us with booking in.

When we finally booked in to our accommodation, we were shocked beyond belief. The pictures that they featured on the website is NOT THE SAME ACCOMMODATION. Our placement was dilapidated, dirty, unsanitary and of shockingly poor quality. The floors were dirty, the walls split with cracks, and infested with spiders and bats. The walls were disgustingly dirty, and the shower was filthy. The tiles were smeared with dirt, and not acceptable at all. The plaster was falling from the walls, with what seemed like blood stains on the linen. This is unacceptable. Upon our arrival at the resort, there was no hot water available, and we had to look for the owners to assist us in getting the gas geyser operational.

When we booked in, we were handed the keys and demanded to pay the 3000M deposit, and then left to our own devices. The taps were filthy and rusted, and the kitchen was not tiled as on the images displayed on the website. The stove was shockingly filthy, and food splatter and all manner of dirt caked on the stove and surroundings. The cupboards had no doors, and could not close. The cupboards in the bedroom had a tiny safe, but no doors, which makes it an easy target for potential *********. The kitchen was also very dirty, and had a lot of ants.

The floors were not tiled as advertised, and the resort is extremely far away from all amenities.

I fell done in, as I have driven 16 hours from Ermelo, Mpumalanga, just to be shocked by this **** of resort. I feel that I have been done in my the owners of this resort, and the fact that I have paid nearly R20 000 for this type of dilapidated accommodation is unacceptable.

When we tried to get our money back to move to another resort, as this resort's advertising was misleading and false advertising, the owners refused to accommodate our requests in any way. They also refused to refund our money paid, stating that the booked accommodation would now be empty. I feel that this is none of our concern, as we have been misled by the owners of Morrambene Bach Resort, as their website and Facebook page boasts luxurious accommodation and tranquility, when in fact, you're greeted with disgust and frustration.

I have now resorted to hastily finding other accommodation, which luckily, I have found. But now it costs me double, as the owners of Morrambene Beach Resort refuses to refund my money, and I have to pay for my new accommodation.

I will be posting the photos of the resort and screenshots of the website and misleading advertising on social media, as well as the Morrambene Beach Resort's Facebook page. I am also considering further action against the owners of the resort, as they have been unreasonable and uncooperative in all respects regarding this matter.

I can be contacted on the following, once I have returned to South Africa, which will be on 4 January 2019:
