Rude Staff - Morgans Photography & Copy Centre
Staff Interacted with: Ashwin, Michelle, unnamed young man
When dealing with clients it is important to treat them with courtesy and kindness. At Morgans Photography & Copy Centre this was not case on 19 May 2017.
A sales rep / graphic designer named Michelle brought the box of printed envelopes so that I can make payment. Upon viewing a few random envelopes I noticed all of them were smudged and not clear. I explained this to Michelle. She said there is nothing she can do and stated that this is why they ask customers to come into the shop to physically proof the sample. I explained how difficult is it to just come into the shop a approve a sample and how it is not efficient. Michelle went on to state that she has has customers coming from Pinetown and Phoenix to proof their artwork. Michelle did send proof however this was sent over email. I would assume a company's own integrity would encourage them to advise the customer that the product did not come out well. However this was not the case at Morgans Photography & Copy Centre. Seems that they are happy with producing below average products and expect the customer to just accept it.
Whilst Michelle went to call a manager I asked a fellow customer what he thought of the print, the man confirmed that it was blur and not clear.
I was met by a seemingly frustrated printer operator named Ashwin. I am not sure why he was already frustrated as I did not speak to him yet.
I explained that the envelopes artwork is blur. Ashwin was adamant that the quality was good. I asked if the file I sent was bad, I thought perhaps I had sent him a JPG instead of a PDF in vector format. However he still insisted that their machine is top of the range and that the quality is good. (I shove kept an envelope as proof).
I went on to tell Ashwin I had a visual impairment, Ashwin said thats my problem. I explained if I can't read the text how will the senior citizens in our church read the text. Ashwin said that most people don't read the envelope anyway as they just write their name and put their money inside.
Ashwin insisted that the quality is good for the printer he was using whilst not acknowledging that the actual physical product is of inferior quality. His response was defensive and he refused to hear what I had to say. I put my hand on his just to calm him and told there is no need to be arrogant. He responded saying "I can be as arrogant as I want to be."
Ashwin went on to state that non of their customers have ever complained of their services and quality and that I was the only one who complained. Michelle joined in and went on to state the big churches they have done work for, international churches, they did not have problems with their printing. I don't think name dropping helps claiming your workmanship if of poor quality.
I mentioned that the email advert I received had pictures of good quality prints, Ashwin rep**** to say thats just an advert. He said its the same as when you go to KFC, your burger is different to the picture of the burger in the advert. Clearly the company has no idea of brand accountability and product integrity.
At the end of it all, I told them I do not want the product anymore. Ashwin said thats fine but also mumbled that it was a waste of envelopes. He should've considered the time it took to come into town to collect a product that wasn't even worth half the drive. Michelle stated she will have to do an EFT refund as I had already paid for product prior to them printing it. EFT was done 4 days later.
As I turned around and began walking out the store Michelle and the unnamed young boy began to shout loudly saying "GODDBYE! GO! BYE! YA BYE!".
Its a pity that Morgans Photography & Copy Centre uses Christian based email marketing with bible scriptures to advertise their services in order win believers over to use their service yet they are such poor examples of Christ.
To grow we need to acknowledge our flaws, even as a business. If we don't acknowledge our flaws, we will always see the world with blinkers with what we choose to see.
If you go to Morgans Photography & Copy Centre, don't expect excellent customer service. They might be fine with other types of printing, but as for digital envelope printing, rather use another supplier with good recommendations.
