Theft and ***** (**********)
I noticed a adverti*****t for a motor car on OLX and after communicating with the seller (Morgan Auctioneers) and receiving all the details of the car, including pictures, I was very interested in byuing the car. They then e-mailed a offer to purchase document to me, and explained that I had to pay a holding deposit, after which they would transport athe car to the closest police station to my house for viewing. In case that I was not happy with the car they would refund me instantly (this statement is also printed on all their documentation)
On Thu 14 December 2017, I paid R21 230 into the Capitec account (# ********** 390, branch code: 470010) of Morgan Auctioneers to serve as a holding deposit on a motor car that I wished to purchase. On Friday 15 Dec when the car was not brought to the closest police station, I tried to communicate with Morgan auctioneers several times. They then wanted me to pay the full amount for the car before it was to be brought to me. They again stated that all my money would be returned in the case that I was not happy with the car. I refused to pay any additional money before seeing the car.
On Monday 18 Dec I went to the adress that is on their documentation and on the web page (178 Main Reef road Randfontein), but found that there is no such bussiness at this adress. When trying to call then up, they (sometimes) answered the phone but was not willing to meet with me before I had paid then additional money. I opened a case of Theft and ***** at the Randfontein SAPS (case no: 509/12/2017) on Mon 18 Dec. I reported the same with Standard bank (the bank that I bank with), and with Capitec bank (the bank that Morgan Auctioneers use. Both banks forensic departments are investigating. Even today (almost a week after opening the case with the SAPS), Morgan Auctioneeers still answer their land line phones ( ********** and ********** ), but cancell the call as soon as I identify myself.
