Constant lies and non-existent customer service.

I purchased my 2019 Qashqai from this dealership in November 2021. I should have know something wasn’t right from the start, I was pushed into making the purchase within a very short space of time, the salesman refused to answer my questions about what service or maintenance plan was remaining on the car. He had been using WhatsApp to communicate with me regarding the financing and as soon as I started asking my questions about the motor plan he blocked me. Nevertheless I went ahead with the purchase. Less than 3 weeks later my battery died while waiting with my daughter outside a COVID testing center. I called to complain and was told it was my fault for leaving the key in the ignition for 10 minutes with the car off. After we recovered from COVID I took the car in and the service department kept it for a day to check the battery, I got it back and was told it’s all okay, just don’t leave the keys in the ignition if the car is off. Fine. I went away to Cape Town for a week and came back to a completely flat battery, I had to unlock it with the key. I called them again and was told yes that’s normal. I told the guy that I find this highly unusual, my previous car was an Audi and never once did I have battery issues with it. Anyway, fast forward to Sunday 13 March and my car wouldn’t start. I had driven it the day before. I got a jump start and drove it around to charge up the battery. That was at 10am. By 4pm when I wanted to go fetch my daughter, the battery was dead again. I booked the car in on Tuesday for them to check it again. This time they kept it for two full days before confirming that yes, my battery is faulty, and they want to charge me R3600 for a new one. They then kept it another day before telling me that I’m basically on my own and it’s not their problem. They refuse to take ownership of the fact that they sold me a car with a faulty battery and they push the blame onto me. They promise to call back and never do. I will never spend another cent in that so place. They do not care one bit about their customers. As soon as they see their dealer commission you may as well be dead to them. Don’t ever buy a car from them. You will regret it.

The service department at Morgan Nissan Northcliff really have done their utmost to resolve my battery woes and try and salvage the relationship. I appreciate all their hard work and their patience with a very grumpy customer. I may not be in a hurry to purchase a car from this dealership again but I will definitely return to the service department for any future maintenance or repair work. Thanks Sean and Alex for everything you’ve done.
